I've been told by the parents of other special needs children that the year leading up to the start of school is a torturous and anxiety filled time for all. They spoke the truth. But...
Yesterday, I fell in love with a school for Willow. For once the stars seem to have aligned in our favour. Normally, there would not be a place available in a small private school this late in the game (Willow is due to start school in January 2008). Usually, all the places would have been filled over a year ago... but the school had a spare classroom and recently decided to start a new reception class. We are fortunate indeed. Today, I submitted an application for Willow - but I've been told that it is only a formality and that she has a place. I feel like a huge, heavy weight is easing and that very soon my heart will be a little lighter. I think Willow can sense my relief as well. She is thrilled to have a school of her very own (one that she will not have to share with her brother!)
And now I am off for a flutter on the fillies! (It is Melbourne Cup today here in Australia ... otherwise known as "the race that stops the nation".)

I know that feeling of relief - we've landed on our feet with Bub's preschool this year ... I just hope that next year works out as well. The school you've got for Willow sounds like a very good thing.
So happy to hear that Em. The door opened just when Willow (and you) needed it. The fact that it's near you as well? How excellent is that??
